The department of Geography of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized an Extension lecture on the topic ‘Environmental Management in the Anthropocene-some recent terms and concepts’ on 14.12.2022, Wednesday at 3pm in the Geography Laboratory (Room no. 532). The lecture was delivered by Mr. Rajarshi Dasgupta, SACT, Department of Geography, East Calcutta Girls’ College. The event was attended by 16 students and 2 teachers of the Geography Department.
The welcome address was given by Dr Debika Banerji followed by the felicitation of the speaker by Bipasa Mondal, a student from English Hons. Semester V. Mr. Dasgupta emphasized the recent terms and concepts of the environment which are emerging from modern research. He also identified and referred to those concepts which are interdisciplinary in nature. He spoke about anthropogenic interferences in our natural environments what have become very detrimental and will hamper our survival in the furture. His presentation was full of interesting photographs, information and recent updates of the issues which arrested the attention of the students. The total lecture was completed withing 45 minutes which was followed by a short interactive question-answer session of about 15 minutes. A few students from Semester I interacted with the speaker with their questions and observation. Dr Debika Banerji and Dr Uttiya Chattopadhyay, the teachers from the Geography Department, also shared their observations and questions with the speaker.
At the end, a vote of thanks was given by Dr Debika Banerji thanking the speaker for his brilliant eye-opening presentation and hoping that more such events are held in the future.
The flyer was released in internet on 7thSeptember, 2020. The registration was free but mandatory. Registration was conducted through Google form.
