The Department of Chemistry of The Bhawanipur Education Society College was taken an initiative to organize an online talk on the Ethics of Science. Ethics is a very important aspect of our daily life as well as in the scientific world. According to Edwin Grant Conklin, “Ethics has been well called the religion of science.”Scientific research has its own code of conduct which preserves the sanctity of this field. But these days scientific world is regularly shaken by the news of breaking the rules and stepping beyond the scientific ethics. Our distinguished speaker Dr. Rupali Gangopadhyay from the Department of Chemistry, Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata presented a very much informative and interesting lecture to the participants on the topic. The total numbers of participants were near about 60. The lecture described the categorization of frauds in science. Dr. Gangopadhyay cited a good number of examples of daring frauds and analyzes the category they belong. All such examples however do not present same type of misconduct and their causes and effects are also different. The filled up feedback forms of the webinar was received from the participants have made the event successful and the organizers are well satisfied that this webinar might be helpful to the students to enrich their idea of Scientific Ethics.
