To observe Earth Day 2026 by promoting awareness about environmental conservation and cultural heritage, and to provide participants with an understanding of the interrelationship between biodiversity and historical significance.

Brief Description of the Activity:
The NSS Unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized the Integrated Biodiversity & Cultural Heritage Survey at Chandannagar on 22 April 2026 to commemorate Earth Day 2026 under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” The activity was conducted across several important heritage and ecological sites, including the Strand, Sacred Heart Church, Patalghar, Museum Area, and Joraghat. The programme integrated the study of French colonial heritage with the observation of local biodiversity, including flora and fauna found along the riverbank ecosystem. Participants engaged in guided visits, field observations, data collection, and documentation, which enabled them to gain valuable insights into the cultural evolution and environmental significance of the region. The survey was conducted under the guidance of two resource persons, Mr. Arindam Ghosal and Ms. Titli Sarkar, whose expertise enriched the learning experience of the students.

Outcome of the Activity:
The survey successfully enhanced participants’ awareness regarding biodiversity conservation and the preservation of cultural heritage. The activity encouraged experiential learning, strengthened environmental consciousness, and provided students with a deeper appreciation of the interconnectedness between natural ecosystems and historical landscapes.
