Brief Description of the Activity:
As part of the World AIDS Day Observation Programme, the NSS Unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised Phase 2 of the awareness initiative on 1st December 2025 at Sonagachi in collaboration with Society for Human Development and Social Action and Dokhin Howrah Muktadhara.

The programme focused on engaging with sex workers and their children through awareness and support activities. NSS volunteers interacted with the beneficiaries, sharing information related to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, healthcare facilities, and the importance of eliminating social stigma associated with the disease. The volunteers also participated in community interactions aimed at promoting dignity, inclusion, and emotional support for the participants. Through meaningful engagement and awareness-building efforts, the programme sought to foster a sense of solidarity and encourage greater awareness of health and social welfare issues affecting the community.

Outcome of the Activity:
The programme successfully strengthened awareness regarding HIV/AIDS among the beneficiaries while promoting acceptance, empathy, and social inclusion. The interactions provided emotional encouragement and support to sex workers and their children, helping to reinforce the importance of healthcare access and community solidarity. The initiative also sensitised NSS volunteers to the challenges faced by marginalized communities and enhanced their commitment to social service, inclusivity, and public health advocacy.
