Objective The 164th Rabindrajayanti celebration, curated by the Department of Bengali, sought to pay homage to the timeless genius of Rabindranath Tagore. It aimed to rekindle the spirit of his literary, musical, and philosophical contributions, enriching the cultural consciousness of the college community.
Program Details Held at the Jubilee Hall, the event was gracefully anchored by Dr. Sampa Sinha Basu. The morning commenced with dignified addresses by Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay (Teacher-in-Charge), Prof. Tathagata Sen, Prof. Debjani Ganguly (Vice Principal of Arts), and Dr. Sandip Dan (Secretary, Governing Body). A compelling special lecture titled “Tagore in Advertisement” was delivered by Mr. Shankhya Acharya, illuminating Tagore’s unexpected presence in the world of modern marketing.
The cultural segment unfolded with a rich tapestry of dance, music, and recitations. Graceful dance performances by Dr. Souraja Tagore, Ms Swarnali Dey, Ms. Sneha Basu Mallick, Ms. Rojalin Mukherjee, Ms. Sukanya Chatterjee, Ms. Prerana Saha, office staff Ms. Susmita Biswas, and students lent a vibrant rhythm to the morning. Melodious vocal presentations by Prof. Puspita Gangopadhyay, Ms. Chitrangada Deb, Dr. Uttiya Chattopadhyay, Dr. Barnasree Chatterjee, and Ms. Shilpi Das—accompanied by the skilled tabla of Mr. Arup Kumar Bag—enchanted the audience. Soulful recitations, led by Dr. Kasturi Mukherjee, featured the heartfelt involvement of students throughout. The highlight of the event was a compelling student performance of Tagore’s celebrated play “Raja”. The program concluded on a gracious note with a warm vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mili Samaddar. A total of 68 participants, including teachers and students, took part in the celebration, making it a truly collaborative endeavour.
Outcome The celebration was a resonant tribute to the spirit of Tagore, weaving together music, movement, and verse. It inspired a renewed appreciation for his legacy, while fostering cultural camaraderie and artistic unity within the college community.
Total no of Teachers participated in the Indoor Tournament – 117 (men & women) Departments: 1) B.Com Morning 2) B.Com Afternoon & Evening 3) Science 4) Arts 5) BBA With utmost excitement and enthusiasm, the Indoor Sports Tournament for faculties was successfully conducted.
