The Department of Sociology of the Bhawanipur Education Society College had organised a one-day students’ seminar: “Beyond the Books” on May 15, 2024. Semester VI students had presented research papers on varied socio-cultural issues pertaining to our everyday social life. Dr. Runa Das Chaudhari, Assistant Professor of Sociology, Bamanpukur Humayun Kabir Mahavidyalaya and Dr. Pinaki Roy, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology, Government General Degree College, Mangalkot had presided over the seminar as judges. They had shared their valuable observations that will help the students to develop on their individual research.
Among the participants, the judges had chosen three best presenters as rank holders. Aheli De was declared as the first rank holder, Ananya Mitra and Ushra Wasim were the first and second runners up respectively. The seminar was a grand success, illuminating the students’ interest in research and field work.
The outreach activity aims to highlight that education and independent thought are the most effective means of breaking down “narrow domestic walls”. In the light of this a health check-up camp was organised by the Department of Chemistry, The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata for all students of Polgustia Board Primary School, Polgustia, West Bengal …
