On March 11, 2025, a grand tribute was held at the Concept Hall of The Bhawanipur Education Society College from 3:30 P.M., which lasted till 5:30 P.M., to commemorate the life and legacy of the legendary actor, filmmaker, and showman Raj Kapoor. The event, titled “A Tribute To Raj Kapoor”, was organized by the active student volunteers of the Dean’s office and received participation from several faculty members of different departments of the BESC as they came together to pay their humble regards.
The hour began with the Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah’s heartfelt speech and the anchor taking over to deeply root us all to our seats before diving deep into the unparalleled contribution of Raj Kapoor to Indian Cinema through different acts presented by the students, professors and staff of the college.
The event featured curated poetry to reminisce about Raj Kapoor’s versatility as an actor and director, his knack for creating timeless melodies with other great legends as well as his life beyond the cinematic industry. A musical performance was presented by the college students Suchetan Bhadra, Dhruv Roy, and Arindam Karmakar. Sonakshi Kar, a finalist of the 13th season of Indian Idol, vocalized a memory of his great works Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ and ‘Sun Shiba Sun’.
The day was highlighted by our respected Dean’s enthusiastic words that were radiant with recognition of the dedication and efforts of distinguished guests and faculty members. The auditorium resonated with admiration as he honoured their work with a huge round of applause. Later, he went on to elevate the charm of the hour with a euphoric performance by Ms. Shilpi Das, Prof. Nitin Chaturvedi, Prof. Rekha Nariwal, Prof. Vasundhara Mishra, Prof. Devina, and the rest.
One of the most mesmerizing segments of the day was Crescendo’s musical tribute along with their mentor, Sourav Goswami’s iconic performance accompanied by instrumentals that recreated the magic of his timeless melodies, which left the audience spellbound. Following that, the struggles faced by the late Mr. Raj Kapoor and the stories behind his achievements were mesmerizingly justified by Satyam Singh’s Monoact. Dancers were among many who paid homage through a beautifully choreographed performance representing 100 years of Bollywood. Towards the end, the dance choreography mesmerized the audience to such an extent that they felt involved, resulting in everyone joining the tune and in resonance, tapping their feet together to bring an end to a wonderfully curated event.
