Objective of the event: The Intra Semester Students’ Seminar Competition has the primary objective to create a vibrant environment that promotes critical thinking, effective communication, and knowledge sharing between students.
Brief description of the event: CHEM VOICE ‘24 is an Intra Semester Students’ Seminar Competition was organised by Department of Chemistry, associated with Seminar/FDP/Workshop Committee of the Science Section, in collaboration with IQAC, The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata. This is the yearly event of the Dept. of Chemistry. A total of 9 students from different semesters of the department enthusiastically took part individually in the competition, showcasing their exceptional skills and knowledge in various facets of chemistry. Each student got a maximum 10 minutes to deliver the lecture and 5 minutes for question & answer by judges and audiences.
The presence of a renowned external judge from Jadavpur University, who contributed his knowledge and perspectives on the competition, augmented the glorifying moments. Both the judges and the competing students responded to the competition with great enthusiasm and praise. Notable praise was given to the participants’ breadth of expertise and the excellent presentations. Students from different semesters developed a sense of constructive rivalry and cooperation as a result of this tournament.
The competition concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the department expressed appreciation to the participants. Arfa Mustafa from semester III secured the 1st prize, with Shubham Soni from semester I as the 1st runner-up and Aishiki Guchhait from semester V as the 2nd runner-up. At the event, external judge shared his views on this event. His feedback added valuable insights to the overall success of the competition. The credit for the success of the event is attributed to the dedicated coordinators, faculty members and staff of the department. The overall contribution of the stakeholders made this program a grand success with positive impact.
Outcome of the event: The Intra Semester Students’ Seminar Competition encouraged participants to share their creative ideas while providing a stage for the demonstration of academic excellence. By honing their presentation and public speaking skills, participants created an atmosphere that promoted clear communication. The contest promoted a lively interchange of ideas and knowledge, exposing our college’s students to a visual perception and promoting interdisciplinary conversations.
Sekhar Das, Geologist, shared his mine of experience – first as a part of the nationalised behemoth Coal India Limited and currently as a consultant with various entities engaged in mining operations.
The Bhawanipur Education Society College under the banner of Yi BhawanipurChaupal conducted an industrial visit. Though it was officially an industrial visit, the true purpose was much deeper. Not only did we visit the glove manufacturing unit of Rajda group, we even visited the Ramakrishna mission ashram situated in Neempeeth on 26th of February.
