What can numbers reveal about us? Can our date of birth offer clues about our personality, life path and destiny? These intriguing questions came alive during an engaging session on Numerology, organised by the BESC Readers’ Club at the college library on 24th September 2026 from 10:30 A.M.
The session began with a brief introduction by Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, who set the tone for the programme by sharing an interesting perspective on the significance of numbers and their presence in everyday life. His opening remarks introduced the students to the idea that numbers, beyond their conventional mathematical use, have also been associated with different interpretations and beliefs across cultures.
The programme then moved into an interactive session led by Mrs. Rashmi, Astro-Numerologist and Consulting Numerologist, who introduced the participants to the world of numerology. She explained the significance traditionally associated with numbers 1 to 9 and discussed how numerical patterns derived from a person’s date of birth are interpreted within numerology.
The session explored how these numbers are believed to offer insights into different aspects of an individual’s life, including personality, strengths, tendencies, life path and destiny. Rather than remaining a one-way lecture, the programme encouraged students to participate and explore the subject through their own numbers.

Students enthusiastically calculated and discussed their numbers and were encouraged to understand the interpretations associated with them. This led to several questions and discussions, with participants sharing their curiosity about what their dates of birth could reveal according to numerological interpretations. The interactive nature of the session kept the atmosphere lively, as students engaged with the speaker and each other throughout the programme.
The session also provided students with an opportunity to look at numerology from a more personal perspective. The discussion around numbers 1 to 9 introduced participants to the different characteristics traditionally associated with each number, while the connection between dates of birth and numerological interpretations formed a major part of the interaction.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Vice Principal, B.Com., who expressed her appreciation to the speaker, organisers and students for their participation. This was followed by words of appreciation from Dr. Vasundhara Mishra of the Department of Hindi, who acknowledged the efforts behind organising the session and its engaging interaction with the students.
The programme was also attended by Dr. Sampa Sinha Basu of the Department of Bengali, Dr. Rekha Nariwal of the Department of Education and Dr. Devina Gupta of the Department of History, whose presence added to the academic gathering.
The numerology session concluded on an engaging note, leaving students with a new perspective on the ways numbers are interpreted in relation to personality and life. With its combination of discussion, personal exploration and audience participation, the programme turned an otherwise familiar subject, numbers, into an intriguing conversation about identity, personality and the different ways people seek to understand themselves.
