The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised COMMUNIQUÉ 2026 on 15th of September, bringing together students from 21 colleges across Kolkata for a celebration of communication, creativity and expression. Beginning at 9:00 A.M., the festival featured 13 events across multiple venues, with the theme “NAVRAS” exploring the diverse emotions that shape human communication.
The opening ceremony began with a soulful musical performance by Jinia Roy, followed by an address by Chief Guest Parnab Mukherjee, who spoke about communication as a means of understanding, expression and meaningful interaction. Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, emphasised the importance of clarity, highlighting how even a small change in a word or letter can alter its meaning. The ceremony also featured the felicitation of the poster-making competition winners and a performance by Eastern Flames, the college’s Eastern dance team.





The competitions brought together participants across different forms of communication. English Debate, featuring 16 teams, tested argumentation, rebuttal and articulation, with Ashutosh College securing first position, Loreto College second and Bhawanipur Global Campus third. JAM & Verteez, with 17 participants in JAM and 32 in Verteez, saw EICASA take first place, followed by BESC and Bhawanipur Global Campus. Both events represented Raudra Rasa, reflecting confrontation, resistance and the confidence to challenge opposing views.
Under Shringaar Rasa, Mushayara brought together 15 participants for original Hindi and Urdu poetry, nazms and ghazals. MCKV Main emerged as winner, followed by MCKV OTSE 1 and BESC Main.
The events under Hasya Rasa brought satire, absurdity and spontaneous humour to the forefront. In Parody Parliament, BESC Main Team secured first position, J.D. Birla Institute (JDBI) was first runner-up and BESC OTSE second runner-up. Aryan Shaw of BESC also received the Best Character Portrayal mention. In Parody Court, BESC Main Team won, followed by GD Goenka and EICASA. Sister Nivedita won Best Prosecutor, while BESC Global Campus won Best Defendant. Improv, featuring 14 two-member teams, saw BESC Main finish first, GD Goenka second and Shri Shikshayatan third.
The Adbhuta Rasa events celebrated wonder, imagination and surprise. What If, with 16 participants, was won by BESC Main, followed by Sister Nivedita University and Heritage College. In Next Best Anchor, EICASA secured first place, Bhawanipur Global Campus second and BESC Main third. Vlogging, featuring 10 four-member teams, saw Sister Nivedita University emerge victorious, followed by BESC OTSE and Ilead. Judge a Book by its Cover, with 18 participants, was won by BESC Main, with Bhawanipur Global Campus second and Ilead OTSE 1 third. English Creative Writing, which had 17 participants, saw MCKV take first place, Vivekananda College second and BESC Main third.





The Veera Rasa category brought confidence and courage to the spotlight. In RJ Hunt, BESC Main Team emerged winner, Lady Brabourne College was first runner-up and BESC OTSE Team second runner-up. News Reporting, featuring 14 two-member teams, was won by BESC, followed by EICASA and Bhawanipur Global Campus.
Representing Karuna Rasa, Yours Faithfully invited 18 participants to express the emotions and perspectives of assigned characters through handwritten letters. Ashutosh College secured first position, Scottish Church College second and BESC OTSE 1 third.
The festival concluded with the felicitation of winners and appreciation for all participating colleges, volunteers and contributors. Tarang Agarwal was named Best Jammer of the Day. In the overall results, EICASA College emerged as the overall runner-up, while Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) was crowned the overall winner of COMMUNIQUÉ 2026.
From debates and poetry to parody, improvisation, journalism, radio and creative writing, COMMUNIQUÉ 2026 transformed communication into a celebration of every shade of human expression.
