Brief Description of the Event: The short film Nidrito aka Asleep was made by a group of film studies students including Pratyay Basu, Nilabhro Chatterjee, Dipta Singha, Swayam Rai, Shubhadeep Biswas, Jion Mullick, and Soumik Guha, as their practical exercise for the second semester exam. However, they further worked on the film and sent it to multiple competitions and festivals and were subsequently recognized in quite a few of them. Notable among these are being the monthly official selection for the 6th Fiction Film Festival, the Crownwood International Film Festival, and an honourable mention at the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival.
To recognize this remarkable achievement, this event was organized in Room 234 and was attended by students, teachers, and non-teaching staff of the arts section. The afternoon began with a round of introduction and applause. This was followed by the screening of the film. The thought provoking nature of the film resulted in a lively round of discussion and interaction. The students shared their experience of making the film, things they learned in the process and the challenges they had faced so far. The participants especially the teachers led by prof. Debjani Ganguly, were extremely encouraging on their part.
The afternoon came to a close with the felicitation. Each of the students was called out. A trophy in recognition of their efforts was handed by the chief guest of the event, the respected Vice Principal, Arts Prof. Debjani Ganguly. The event ended with formal and informal photo sessions and some cakes and mojitos.
Outcome of the Event: This event marked an unprecedented achievement by a group of Film Studies students from the college.
