The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised Nexus 2026, a two-day inter-college business and management event, on 5 and 6 October 2026. Centred on the theme “Forbes: The Inflexion,” the event brought together 16 colleges and 182 participants from across Kolkata to test their analytical abilities, creativity, leadership, and decision-making skills through a range of business challenges.

The opening ceremony commenced at Jubilee Hall on 5 October in the presence of Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, and Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Vice Principal, Department of Commerce (Morning). Following the distribution of badges to event masters and participating representatives, Prof. Shah addressed the gathering and formally inaugurated Nexus 2026. A panel discussion covering finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, startups, and the stock market offered participants valuable strategic insights before the competitions began.

The Finance event challenged teams to acquire and restructure companies, determine capital structures, and prepare Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) reports before presenting their journeys towards an initial public offering (IPO). The Bhawanipur Education Society College secured first place, followed by EICASA, while Bhawanipur Global Campus and Heritage College shared the second runner-up position.

The Entrepreneurship event tested participants through valuation exercises, marketing pitches, a customised Monopoly round, and crisis-based business scenarios. The final Boardroom round required teams to defend their decisions before a judge. BESC emerged victorious, with EICASA finishing as the first runner-up and Shri Shikshayatan College securing third place.

In Strategic Management, teams competed to build and launch over-the-top (OTT) platforms through content-rights auctions, influencer selection, joint ventures, and investment pitches. BESC claimed the top position, followed by EICASA, IBM, and Jadavpur University.

The Human Resources competition focused on policy formulation, crisis management, resource allocation, and employee termination disputes. Heritage College won the event, EICASA finished as the first runner-up, and BESC Main secured the second runner-up position.

The additional events broadened the competition beyond conventional business management. Sports Management centred on football franchise auctions and budget planning, with BESC winning the event, while Bhawanipur Global Campus and Jadavpur University shared the runner-up positions. Public Speaking tested participants’ quick thinking, crisis management, pitching, and debating skills. BESC OST emerged as the winner, followed by BESC and Goenka College. In Marketing, teams tackled brand crises and developed strategic pitches, with Amity University securing first place, followed by Shri Shikshayatan College and BESC.
