Objective of the Activity:
The objective of the campaign was to create awareness about HIV/AIDS among vulnerable sections of society through education and informed discussion. The programme aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of HIV transmission, prevention, precautions, and the importance of adopting healthy and responsible practices.

Brief Description of the Activity:
The NSS Unit of The Bhawanipur Education Society College successfully conducted an **HIV Awareness Campaign** on 30th August 2025 in collaboration with Amra Padatik, an organization dedicated to the welfare of children of sex workers. The programme was held at Amra Padatik, 12/5 Nilmoni Mitra Street, Kolkata – 700006, from 2:00 PM onwards.

Children and young adults belonging to different age groups (10–13 years and 17–22 years) actively participated in the awareness session. The resource person for the programme was Dr. Moumita Mandal from IPGMR, Kolkata, who delivered an informative and engaging presentation on HIV/AIDS. She explained the causes, modes of transmission, preventive measures, myths and misconceptions, and the importance of early awareness in a clear and accessible manner. The interactive session encouraged participants to ask questions and gain accurate knowledge about HIV, thereby helping to reduce stigma and misinformation surrounding the disease.

Outcome of the Activity:
The campaign successfully enhanced awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS among the participants. The beneficiaries gained valuable knowledge regarding prevention, risk factors, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The programme contributed to reducing misconceptions about HIV and empowered participants to make informed decisions. The NSS Unit extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Moumita Mandal for her expertise and valuable contribution, which made the awareness campaign impactful and meaningful.
