The objective of the event: To feed stray dogs and distribute reflective collars from Kolkata to Bolpur National Highway.
Brief description of the event: On February 24, 2024, a collaborative effort between The BESC and FurrFolks resulted in the successful distribution of 200 reflective collars along the Kolkata to Bolpur Highway to the stray dogs. These collars play a crucial role in enhancing the safety of pets and stray animals during low-light conditions. The primary objective of this distribution drive was to promote responsible pet ownership and improve the visibility of animals, especially during nighttime or adverse weather conditions. Reflective collars serve as a simple yet effective solution to reduce accidents and ensure the well-being of our furry companions. NSS volunteers coordinated with FurrFolks to procure the reflective collars. Volunteers were briefed on safety protocols and the importance of the initiative. Starting from Kolkata, we covered key points along the Bolpur Highway. Stray dogs were offered food first and with a friendly approach each collar was carefully fitted to the pet, ensuring comfort and proper visibility.
Outcome of the event: Around 200 reflective collars were distributed.
