The Department of Mathematics at The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized an educational trip to Science City in Kolkata on April 29, 2023. The objective was to provide students from semester 2, 4, and 6 with a unique learning experience outside the classroom. The trip was led by faculty members including Dr. Nirabhra Basu, Mr. Sugata Adhya, Dr. Kaushik Chattopadhyay, Ms. Soumyi Chowdhury, and Ms. Anwesha Roy. The journey began at 10:30 am as the students boarded a bus from the college premises. During the ride, they were treated to delicious food, adding to the enjoyment of the trip. Upon arriving at Science City, the students first visited the science exploration hall. This interactive space showcased various scientific concepts in an engaging and entertaining
manner, capturing the students’ interest right from the start. After the exploration hall, the students proceeded to the digital panorama show. This immersive experience presented a panoramic film highlighting significant events in human evolution, providing them with a deeper understanding of this subject. Following this, the students entered the dark ride, where they witnessed the evolution of life through automated rides and robotic animals, making the learning experience more vivid and tangible. The students then took a break for a delightful meal, recharging their energy for the next set of activities. They were then treated to a captivating 3D show that explained the phenomenon of Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis, while also offering insights into the lives of Eskimos. The journey through space continued with a 2D projection show on the planets of our solar system, presenting intriguing facts about each planet and its satellites. The students eagerly moved on to the motion simulation ride, which featured a 3D trip along the Great Wall of China, combining education with entertainment through visually engaging content. Next, they attended a 3D show showcasing the diverse marine life found underwater, expanding their knowledge of maritime ecosystems. The trip concluded with a cable car ride that offered a scenic aerial view of Science City, leaving the students with lasting memories of their visit. Overall, the educational trip to Science City was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on the participating students. Through interactive exhibits, immersive shows, and engaging rides, the trip provided a unique opportunity for students to learn scientific concepts in an enjoyable and interactive manner. Such experiences are invaluable in supplementing classroom learning, allowing students to gain practical exposure and hands-on experience. The Department of Mathematics is to be commended for organizing such a memorable and enriching trip.
