Objective of the Activity
The objective of observing Sanskrit Divas 2026 was to celebrate and promote awareness of the rich linguistic, literary, spiritual, and cultural heritage of the Sanskrit language. The programme aimed to encourage students to appreciate Sanskrit as an important part of India’s intellectual and cultural tradition through prayers, shloka recitations, Sanskrit songs, and active participation in the prayer assembly.
Brief Description of the Activity
The Bhawanipur Education Society College observed Sanskrit Divas on 31 August 2026 to celebrate and highlight the richness, heritage, and cultural significance of the Sanskrit language. The occasion was marked by a special prayer assembly that brought together teachers and students in an atmosphere of reverence and cultural appreciation. A total of 40 students and 5 faculty members participated in the programme.
The programme commenced with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the recitation of several significant Sanskrit shlokas and prayers by the teachers. The shloka “Omkaram Bindu Samyuktam” and the prayer “Shantakaram Bhujagashayanam” were recited, reflecting the spiritual and philosophical depth of Sanskrit literature. A verse from the Bhagavad Gita, “Sukha-Dukhe Same Kritva,” was also recited, emphasising the importance of maintaining equanimity in the face of happiness and sorrow.
The Gayatri Mantra was recited by all students, adding a spiritual dimension to the observance. The celebration also included a Sanskrit song performance, further enriching the programme and providing students with an opportunity to engage with the language through music and expression.
Outcome of the Event
The programme enhanced students’ appreciation of Sanskrit and its contribution to Indian literature, philosophy, spirituality, and cultural traditions. It also encouraged active student participation in cultural activities and reinforced the values of cultural preservation, respect for heritage, and collective participation. Overall, the event successfully fulfilled its objective of creating greater awareness and appreciation of Sanskrit among the college community.
