“Some institutions give education. Some become a part of your life forever.”

The Bhawanipur Education Society College marked a historic milestone on 25th May 2026 as it launched its Diamond Jubilee celebrations, commemorating 60 glorious years of excellence in education, culture, and community service. What began in 1966 as a vision of the Gujarati community of Kolkata to promote language, education, and culture has today evolved into one of the city’s most respected educational institutions.

The evening was a heartfelt tribute to the people, values, and memories that have shaped BESC over six remarkable decades. Addressing the gathering, Vice Chairman Mr. Miraj D. Shah reaffirmed that the true strength of an institution lies not in its infrastructure, but in its students, teachers, non-teaching staff, administrative officers, and academicians whose collective efforts create responsible citizens and a progressive society.

The Diamond Jubilee celebrations were inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests including Dr. Konika Chatterjee, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, University of Calcutta; former Member of Parliament and BESC alumnus Mr. Vivek Gupta; members of the Management Committee, faculty members, alumni, and well-wishers of the institution.

One of the most emotional moments of the evening was the felicitation of more than fifty teaching and non-teaching staff members who have dedicated over twenty-five years of service to the institution. As their names were announced, the auditorium came alive with applause, smiles, nostalgia, and even tears, reflecting the deep bond that generations of educators and staff share with BESC.

The celebrations also witnessed the unveiling of the official Diamond Jubilee logo, commemorating the institution’s sixty-year journey. Adding further warmth to the evening were captivating cultural performances by student Sonakshi Kar, Bharatanatyam exponent Dr. Saroja Tagore, and the acclaimed musical duo Sourendro–Soumyojit, whose soulful renditions transformed the celebration into a memorable musical tribute to legacy and belonging.

As faculty, alumni, students, staff, and guests came together in celebration, the evening served as a powerful reminder that BESC is more than an institution—it is a family, a legacy, and a home that generations continue to carry in their hearts.

“A thousand memories. A million emotions. And a home we never really left.”
