Name of the Event: The Department of History conducted its first Alumni Meet at the college premises on 1st March, 2025
Category of Event: The event was an Alumni meet, bidding students to share their journeys as young individuals striking out in the world.
Organizing Unit: The event was organized by the Department of History, with the active support of the college management.
Date/Duration of the activity: The meet was conducted on 1st March, 2025 at the Conference Hall.
Time: The event was conducted from 2-5 pm.
No of Participants: 16 alumni took part in the meet, 5 students of the current semester hosted the meet, along with 6 teachers from the department.
Objective of the event: The event was organized primarily to cement continued ties of communication between teachers and students in a formalized manner. Two way communication between teachers and students, are essential for the healthy functioning of the teaching-learning ecosystem.
Brief Description of the event:
Students, whether active, or as alumni’s, are an essential part of educational institutions. As alumni, who pass out, and encounter the world before them, they represent the teachings and values of the institutions and teachers they have learnt from. As teachers, the department, felt the need to encourage alumni, to consider the department as a safe space that continues to provide a safe place to students.
With this idea in mind, the History Department organized its first Alumni Meet. Students were asked to share their college experiences, and they recollected, how their experiences as students of History, have helped them in their respective future endeavors. Students performed musical performances. The meet concluded with a short video, compiled by the teachers, showing students journey as students. Teachers distributed mementos, to the students that would make them reminisce, their association with the college.
Outcome of the event: Students have illustrated, how their journey as history students, have aided some of them to continue pursuing history in their masters, while for others it has encouraged them to actively, contribute to the society. Students left the event, carrying a promise that teachers are always hopeful of them to update them, of any new developments in their professional careers.
At 5:30pm on Monday the 4th April ’16, at the college turf, about 150 students along with staff members assembled for the opening of BFC Tournament. The evening started with handing over of gift hampers to the staff members in recognition of their services to the college.
